Sir Charles Gairdner

Sir Charles Gairdner was a prominent Australian physician and medical researcher born in Vincent, Western Australia in 1898. He served as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Western Australia and was notable for his contributions to cancer research, particularly in the field of radiation therapy. Gairdner was knighted in 1952 for his services to medicine and passed away in 1983.

Herb Elliot

Herb Elliot, born on February 25, 1938 in Vincent, Western Australia, is one of Australia's greatest middle-distance runners. He won the gold medal in the 1500 meters race at the 1960 Rome Olympics, setting a new world record, which remained unbroken for almost a decade. Elliot's exceptional running career earned him numerous accolades and he was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 1985.

Yvonne Kennedy

She served as the first female Vice-Chancellor of the University of Wollongong, making significant contributions to the university's growth and reputation. Kennedy later entered politics, becoming a member of the Australian Senate for the Australian Democrats party. She was a prominent advocate for education and women's rights. Kennedy sadly passed away in 2008.
